Sanctions on Iran Not to Affect Gas Pipeline: Pakistan
Pyongyang, January 29 (KCNA) -- Pakistan said on Thursday that international sanctions on Iran will not affect a multi-billion gas pipeline between the two countries, which is crucial for the country's growing energy requirements.

"Pakistan is committed to the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline and sanctions do not cover this project," Pakistani Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit said at a press briefing at Foreign Office.

He said Pakistan is studying the U.S. legislation about sanctions on Iran but it is clear that the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline is not covered by them.

Pakistan did not bow to American pressure on the project and insisted that it will go ahead with the plan to meet its fast growing energy needs.
