Samjiyon Schoolchildren's Palace
Pyongyang, January 14 (KCNA) -- The Samjiyon Schoolchildren's Palace is located at the foot of Mt. Paektu in the northern tip of Korea.

The palace, reconstructed in 2006, has a floor space of more than 7,700 square meters. It consists of the main building, theater and gymnasium.

The main building has scores of rooms for schoolchildren's extracurricular activities, as well as astronomical observation and video game facilities and library. After school they come to the palace to learn vocal music, narration, instrumental music, dance and mathematics. They also learn how to operate computer, automobile and tractor.

The gymnasium with a floor space of some 1,300 square meters is equipped with facilities needed for learning Taekwon-Do, basketball, alpine skiing and other sports events.

The well-equipped theater has 300 seats.

When giving field guidance to Samjiyon County in October Juche 91 (2002), General Secretary Kim Jong Il took measures to reconstruct the palace in a fashionable way to accommodate an increasing number of study tourists.

After visiting the reconstructed palace in early March 2006, he sent many computers and musical instruments to it.
