Iran Strongly Reacts to U.S. and West's Sanctions
Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- The Iranian government and people are standing firm against the persistent politico-military threats and sanctions by the U.S., Israel and the West.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad struck out at the U.S. and other Western powers for working hard to disturb his country's development of nuclear science and technology.

He also clarified more than once the country's stance not to forfeit its right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.

The minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics accused the American government mired in an impasse at present of resorting to a smear campaign to divert elsewhere the domestic criticism.

He voiced his stand to beat back any military invasion and firmly defend the interests of the country.

The vice-chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Majlis warned the U.S. and other Western powers that Iran will blockade the Strait of Hormuz if they put embargo on Iran's oil exports.

Iran is registering successes by channeling sustained big efforts into bolstering its defence capability to cope with the enemies' moves for aggression.

Iranian experts have finished the designing for the latest anti-air missile defense system "Babar 373" by their own efforts.

"Sair" anti-aircraft artillery pieces capable of detecting and intercepting air targets through a radar and optical system as well as striking marine targets were inducted into the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps of Iran.

Three 120 ton-class "Gadir" submarines were inducted into the Iranian navy.

A plan was announced to build an aircraft carrier and the second modern destroyer called "Zamaran 2".

As a strong counter-action against the U.S. and other Western powers' sanctions, the navy staged 10-day Velayat-90 military exercises in the Hormuz Strait from Dec. 24 last year.
