Choe Yong Rim on Increasing Coal Production
Pyongyang, January 12 (KCNA) -- DPRK Premier Choe Yong Rim on Wednesday made field survey of the Jenam Coal Mine under the Tokchon Area Coal Mining Complex which is stepping up the drive for increased production to implement the tasks laid in the joint calls of the Central Committee and the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea and the joint New Year editorial in response to the letter of the working people in South Hamgyong Province.

He went down Pit No. 2 of the mine to give pep-talks to the coal miners and learn in detail about the matters arising in mining operations.

Then the premier convened a working meeting of officials concerned to discuss the smooth supply of coal urgently needed for several sectors of the national economy.

The meeting stressed that in order to increase the coal production, the food of industry, it is important to concentrate efforts on giving precedence to tunneling, as already indicated by the Party, and provide enough reserve cutting faces and promising pits for normal coal production.

It also underlined the need for the electric power industrial sector to supply without letup electricity for coal production and for the forestry and railway transport sectors to ensure on a preferential basis the production and carrying of prop timbers.

Besides, detailed steps were taken at the meeting to improve the supply service for the coal miners.

At the meeting, the premier called on all the participants to make tangible contributions to building a thriving nation by decisively increasing coal output under the leadership of the dear respected Kim Jong Un, true to the behests of leader Kim Jong Il.
