"This (demand) is absurd and unacceptable. We cannot accept it as a sovereign country. Ecuador has very clear principles on international policy," the country's Vice Foreign Minister Rafael Quintero told reporters.

Ecuador could not treat a visitor (Iranian president) ungenerously, Quintero added.
