Brazen-faced GI Criminal's Appeal under Fire
Pyongyang, January 8 (KCNA) -- The Joint Conference for Settling GIs' Crimes of south Korea held a press conference in Seoul on Jan. 5 at which it denounced the appeal made by a shameless GI criminal.

The organization at the conference recalled that a trial on the appeal made by the GI criminal who committed a sexual assault against a young girl student in Tongduchon, Kyonggi Province was to take place on the same day.

As already known, a GI belonging to the Second Division of the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces present in south Korea committed a sexual assault against an 18-year old girl student in Tongduchon, Kyonggi Province on Sept. 24 last year.

When the south Korean court authorities sentenced him to imprisonment in face of strong protests by people of various circles, he shamelessly made an appeal under the pretence that punishment was too heavy.

The organization declared that his mean behavior hell-bent on evading punishment, far from admitting his crime is touching off people's anger.

Quite many crimes are reported from among GIs in south Korea, but they remain unsettled, the organization deplored.

Saying that the issue of GI crimes can never be solved unless the U.S. forces change their cognition and attitude of not regarding such crimes as robbery, violence and rape as serious in south Korea, the organization urged the court to make a right decision.

It demanded that the U.S. forces take a fundamental measure for eradicating their crimes and totally revise the humiliating south Korea-U.S. SOFA.

Meanwhile, on the same day the GI criminal was so shameless as to appeal for reducing the sentence at the High Court, triggering off anger of people of various circles in south Korea.
