Haedongthongbo, Bronze Coin of Koryo
Pyongyang, January 6 (KCNA) -- Haedongthongbo was a coin minted by Koryo kingdom in 1102. The round coin has a square hole in the middle and its diameter is 2.4cm.

It has four letters meaning Koryo coin inscribed on both heads and tails.

In Koryo, the relations of commodities and currency developed compared with the preceding kingdom.

The metal casting and processing technology also developed in the 11th century.

The feudal government planned to massively mint coins with metal and set up a bureau to mint various kinds of bronze coins, including Haedongthongbo.

Haedongthongbo coins were unearthed in many relics dating back to the period of Koryo.
