U.S. Urged to Withdraw Its Troops from S. Korea
Pyongyang, January 6 (KCNA) -- The U.S. aggressor forces, the main obstacle to peace in the Korean peninsula, should be pulled out from south Korea, says the joint New Year editorial released in the DPRK.

The U.S. imperialists have persistently resorted to anti-DPRK moves since they occupied south Korea along with the end of the Second World War.

They ignited a war against the DPRK on June 25, Juche 39 (1950) to impose untold sufferings and hardships on the Korean nation.

After the Korean war, the U.S. has turned south Korea into a nuclear arsenal and military stronghold in a bid to put Northeast Asia under its control, in defiance of the world people's demand and the UN resolution for the withdrawal of its troops.

Due to the U.S. aggressor forces, all the Korean people have been apt to be subject to a nuclear holocaust.

The U.S. spy ship "Pueblo", large spy plane "EC-121" and Panmunjom incidents went to clearly prove that the U.S. imperialists did not want peace on the Korean peninsula but disturbed it.

While giving lip-service to dialogue, the U.S. has staged DPRK-targeted war exercises in south Korea every year and escalated preparations for mounting a preemptive nuclear attack on the latter, shipping latest-type military hardware to south Korea.

If the U.S. truly wants Korea's peace and reunification, it should quit the hostile policy toward the DPRK, replace the armistice agreement with a peace agreement and withdraw its troops from south Korea immediately.

The withdrawal will provide conditions of peace and reunification on the peninsula, not entailing any "security threat".
