Exhibition Gives Impetus to Development of Light Industry
Pyongyang, January 5 (KCNA) -- The Third Commodity Exhibition opened at Pyongyang Department Store No. 1 on Tuesday.

On display there are more than 5.9 million consumer goods of some 2,800 kinds produced by hundreds of industrial establishments, commercial service facilities and joint-venture companies across the country.

Some 70 more units take part in the exhibition and some 1,400 more kinds of goods are exhibited than the previous exhibition.

All pavilions are full of quality goods in great demand.

Viewing foodstuffs displayed by the Pyongyang Flour-Processing Factory and the Sonhung Foodstuff Factory, visitors are much touched by the great effort leader Kim Jong Il had made for the improvement of the people's diet until the last moment of his life.

The Textile Industrial Management Bureau and Knitting Industrial Management Bureau of the Ministry of Light Industry exhibit blankets, suit materials and other goods made from vinalon fiber, as well as a variety of undergarments, sweaters and hosiery.

Household articles, school things and daily necessities exhibited by various factories also draw visitors' interest.

Kim Ja Son, deputy manager of Pyongyang Department Store No.1, said that with the store packed with goods through the exhibition, she will work scrupulously to evenly distribute goods to people.
