The rallies were held to vow to carry through the decision of the Political Bureau of the C.C., Workers' Party of Korea, the joint calls of the Central Committee and the Central Military Commission of the WPK and the militant tasks laid down in the joint New Year editorial as well as to respond to the letter of the South Hamgyong provincial working people.

At the rallies reporters and speakers called on all the party members and other working people to turn out in the new general offensive with the determination to glorify for all ages the immortal revolutionary exploits of leader Kim Jong Il who made an endless long journey for field guidance till the last moments of his life.

They underlined the need for light industrial factories and local industrial establishments to tap all available economic foundations so as to normalize their production and bring an epochal turn in improving the people's standard of living and developing the economy.

It is important for farms to drastically increase the grain output per hectare and bring about an overall improvement in agricultural production, they said, calling on the people to give priority to the military affairs and continuously display the noble traits of assisting the army to cement the great army-people unity.

They also stressed that the officials should be true doers courageously making a breakthrough for charge in the van of the advance for great surge and that the young people should build more monumental edifices in the era of Songun to be named after youth

They expressed the resolve to bring about the great heyday of prosperity by dint of the power of the single-minded unity and thus most significantly greet the 100th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung and the 70th birth anniversary of Kim Jong Il as grand auspicious events of the nation.
