New Year Addresses from Presidents of CIS and East European Countries
Pyongyang, January 4 (KCNA) -- Presidents of the Commonwealth of Independent States and east European countries made New Year addresses on the New Year's Day.

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said that all the people should draw a lesson from last year's events, set a high goal to develop the country and work hard to realize it. The destiny of the country and the nation depends on this, he stressed.

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said that the work for promoting the wellbeing of the citizens will be an important task of the government. He expressed belief that Kazakhstan will be strong thanks to the unity of the people and their devoted labor.

Armenian President Serge Sarkissian called upon the Armenian people to show rich tradition and civilization of the nation by building a strong country though its conditions are difficult.

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich underlined the need to work hard to further strengthen the unity of the people, modernize the country and build a state with developed economy.

Romanian President Traian Basescu hoped that all the people will stoutly live for the future of the state with optimism about the future in the New Year.

Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov said that mutual trust and prudence should be displayed and unity be achieved as minority groups live in Bulgaria.

Serbian President Boris Tadzic called upon all the people to oppose war and violence and strive for peace.
