Flames of Hamnam Serve as Banner of Great Victory in Economic Construction
Pyongyang, January 3 (KCNA) -- The flames of Hamnam (South Hamgyong Province) represent the banner of the general offensive for the great victory in 2012, a banner of fresh change, says the joint New Year editorial published by the DPRK's major newspapers Rodong Sinmun, Joson Inmingun and Chongnyon Jonwi.

The flames are based on the spirit of carrying out the tasks entrusted by the Workers' Party of Korea in the shortest possible period and on the highest possible level and rising beyond the global standards by drawing on one's own strength, and the traits of taking the lead in opening the gates of prosperity in one's own home town and at one's own workplace.

The flames were kindled by leader Kim Jong Il.

He gave field guidance to South Hamgyong Province on scores of occasions in recent three years alone.

His guidance has brought about a rapid progress in the province's overall economic sectors, including the production of vinalon fiber, fertilizers, geothermal equipment, custom-built equipment, minerals, non-ferrous metal, fruits and grain.

The magnesia clinker industry is based on locally available fuel and the February 8 Vinalon Complex is in full operation.

The first-stage gasification project of the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex, which would have taken more than ten years, was completed in two and a half years.

The province has also created culture of a new style suitable for the working class and facelifted towns and villages.

The flames of Hamnam will encourage the people throughout the country to make a leap forward in the economic construction this year, too.
