S. Korea Accused of Blocking Condolatory Visits to Pyongyang

Pyongyang, December 30 (KCNA) -- Mourners group of the South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification (Pomminryon) made up of its elders set about a visit to Pyongyang on Wednesday to mourn the passing of leader Kim Jong Il.

The members of the group, including Ra Chang Sun, honorary chairman of the South Headquarters of Pomminryon, and Advisors Kang Sun Jong and Ri Chon Jae, left for Panmunjom, holding placards "We are making a journey to pay a condolatory visit in the spirit of June 15" and "How can the 'government' disallow consolatory visits and scatter leaflets?"

When they reached a checkpoint in Phaju City, Kyonggi Province, puppet army soldiers and police blocked their way.

Enraged by this, they offered strong resistance, shouting "We are on our way to Pyongyang to mourn the demise of Chairman of the National Defence Commission Kim Jong Il. Step aside", "We are going to pave the way for promoting inter-Korean reconciliation through this visit. Why are you standing in our way?"

The group's visit to Pyongyang could not take place due to the authorities' unethical action.

They condemned the "government" for blocking the condolatory visit to mourn the demise of the supreme leader of the north as members of the same nation.
