Human Rights Abuses by IS Protested in S. Korea

Pyongyang, December 30 (KCNA) -- The People's Solidarity for the Repeal of the "National Security Law" and the Association for Emergency Measures against the "National Security Law" in south Korea released a joint statement on December 27 condemning the Intelligence Service's human rights abuses.

The IS has enforced those detained on the suspicion of a "spy-ring case" into confession, putting them to threat, insult, curses and torture, the statement noted.

The service is also conducting an investigation into 120 inhabitants, allegedly to obtain additional evidence, 98 of them affiliated to the South Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration and trade unions, civic and public organizations and opposition parties in Inchon, it said.

Thousands of people have already signed the declaration protesting such action of violating human rights, the statement said, adding this is an expression of the will not to allow the human rights abuses.

It demanded a prompt probe into the human rights abuses by the IS and punish those responsible for such deeds.
