Koreans' Grief Gets Bitterer before State Funeral

Pyongyang, December 28 (KCNA) -- The Korean people's grief at the loss of their great leader is getting bitterer with the approach of the moment of bidding last farewell to him.

Kim In Jun, 54, who lives in Othan-dong in Central District, Pyongyang, told KCNA after visiting the mourning site for leader Kim Jong Il:

"I wish that all the past ten days were just a dream. How can I experience the heart-rending moment."

Kim Kyong Jun, an officer staying in the mourning site together with some twenty army surgeons and nurses, said:

"The day has dawned when we have to bid our last farewell to leader Kim Jong Il. But mourners have not stopped to come here to mourn before a huge portrait of the leader with a broad smile on his face. Some of them have fainted, overwhelmed by the bitter sorrow."

An Ri Ho, a 86-year-old woman residing in Kaeson-dong, Moranbong District, said, choked with tears:

"I had fainted while mourning here. I am missing leader Kim Jong Il so much."

Her daughter Kang Mi Ri, 53, said, "My mother owes so much to leader Kim Jong Il. She came here on foot. She refused to take a car, saying it is contrary to the filial duty. We will greet the day of the state funeral here in the mourning site where leader Kim Jong Il's huge portrait is displayed."

Many people are still converging on mourning sites in Pyongyang and all other areas of the country.
