Employees of Power Stations Strive for Increased Production

Pyongyang, December 26 (KCNA) -- With the bitterest grief at the sudden demise of leader Kim Jong Il, all the Korean people are uniting close around Kim Jong Un, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea and the great successor to the revolutionary cause of Juche, while striving for increased production in various economic sectors.

Over the past five days the electric power output has increased throughout the country, an average of 500,000 kilowatts more than the previous days.

Ho Ryong Ho, a vice department director of the Ministry of Electric Power Industry, told KCNA:

"Employees of power stations throughout the country are making redoubled efforts to translate into reality the desire of Kim Jong Il for the building of a thriving nation."

The output of the thermal-power stations has increased more than 20 percent.

The Pukchang and Pyongyang thermal-power complexes and East Pyongyang Thermal Power Station are keeping generating equipment in full-capacity operation.

The Sunchon and Chongjin thermal power stations are operating one more generator respectively to boost the power output.

Suphung, Wiwon, Taedonggang, Sodusu and other hydro-power stations have also raised the power output, a daily average of 110,000 kilowatts more than the plan from the first days of December.

Coal industrial and transport sectors have supplied coal, over 60 percent higher than before, to power stations.
