Chongryon Central Standing Committee Adopts Decision

Pyongyang, December 20 (KCNA) -- The Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) Monday adopted a decision on mourning the demise of leader Kim Jong Il according to the notice of the National Funeral Committee of the DPRK.

According to the decision, the period from Dec. 17 to 29, Juche 100 (2011) will be set as a period of mourning the demise of Kim Jong Il.

A delegation of mourners of Chongryon made up of delegates from its Central Standing Committee and representatives of various social standings will be sent to the homeland to express deep condolences.

Messages of condolences will be sent by the Chongryon Central Standing Committee, its organizations, enterprises, Chongryon headquarters and all other institutions to the National Funeral Committee of the DPRK.

A memorial service of Korean residents in Japan to bid farewell to Kim Jong Il will be held at the Korean Hall of Culture in Tokyo at 11:00 on Dec. 29. During the time of the memorial service, similar memorial services will be held at all regional headquarters of Chongryon.

At the moment of the memorial service the compatriots at all organs, enterprises and families of Chongryon will observe three minutes' silence.

Mourners will be received at the Korean Hall and all the headquarters of Chongryon on Dec. 21 and 22 (from 10:00 to 17:00).

During the mourning period all the organs, institutions and enterprises will hoist flags at half-mast in their buildings and all songs and dances and other entertainment will be refrained.
