Geographical Book Attached to True Records of King Sejong

Pyongyang, December 12 (KCNA) -- The Geographical Book Attached to True Records of King Sejong is one of the Korean nation's precious cultural heritages, which is conducive to studying the history and geography of Korea before the second half of the 15th century.

The book began to be compiled from the end of the year 1424 and became a part of Sejong Silok (chronicles of King Sejong) in 1454.

The book is a revised and supplemented edition of the previously compiled Geographical Book on Eight Provinces.

The book divides the country into 8 provinces and gives their geographical details.

The details include administrative changes of counties and sub-counties, their history, numbers of their households, military deployments and names of provincial seats.

It is made up of more than 60 particulars geographically dealing with politics, economy, military, culture and nature.
