DPRK Anniversaries Marked in Peru, Russia

Pyongyang, December 10 (KCNA) -- Events took place in different countries on December 1 and 2 to mark the 20th anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's assumption of supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army and the 94th birth anniversary of Kim Jong Suk, an anti-Japanese war hero. They included a meeting in Peru and an opening ceremony of Korean book, photo and handicraft exhibition in Russia.

Displayed in the venue of the exhibition were works of peerlessly great men, books and photos on undying feats of the three commanders of Mt. Paektu and Songun Korea and handicrafts associated with the creative skill of the Korean people.

The chairperson of the Peruvian Association for the Study of Revolutionary Activities of Comrade Kim Jong Suk and other speakers praised Kim Jong Suk as a guard who ensured the safety of President Kim Il Sung on the highest level, a revolutionary comrade who remained true to his idea and intention and a great mother of Korea who provided a sure guarantee for the revolutionary cause of Juche.

A deputy director of the Cultural Bureau of the Maritime Territory Administration of Russia said that the exhibition would provide an opportunity for the Russian people to know well about the wisdom and talents of the Korean people who boast of 5,000 year long history and culture. It would also mark an occasion for further developing the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries, he added.

The curator of the Maritime Territory National Fine Art Museum of Russia noted that the exhibits reflect the Korean people's trust in their leaders.
