Literature of Palhae Kingdom

Pyongyang, December 9 (KCNA) -- Palhae Kingdom, which lasted for some 200 years from the year 698 after the demise of the Koguryo Kingdom, boasted of its developed literature.

It put the Korean nation's literature in the middle ages on a high level. Its literary works, characterized by vivid descriptive, lyric and narrative art, give a glimpse of the patriotic-minded spirit of the Palhae people.

Typical of them are poems composed by Yang Thae Sa and Wang Hyo Ryom.

In particular, a man, named Paejong, was widely known in Palhae and other countries as a gifted poet.

The literature of Palhae remains one of the Korean nation's precious cultural heritages.
