Moscow, December 8 (KCNA) -- Nikolai Makarov, chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, in a diplomatic meeting Wednesday expressed the stand of his country to take strong counteraction against the missile defense system in Europe.

Russia put forward various proposals over this issue but the United States and the West refused them, he said, adding they repeatedly talked nonsense without any proposal that the MD would not threaten Russia's strategic nuclear armed forces.

Russia does not want armament race, but the U.S. and the West push Russia into such race, he said.
