Namibia Supports Founding of Independent Palestinian State

Pyongyang, December 6 (KCNA) -- Namibia said on Wednesday that the core of the Arab-Israeli conflict lays within finding a "lasting and comprehensive solution" to an independent State of Palestine.

Jerobeam Shaanika, deputy Namibian permanent representative to the UN, made the statement as he was addressing the UN General Assembly in a plenary meeting on the question of Palestine.

"Namibia shares the conviction that achieving a just, lasting and comprehensive settlement of the question of Palestine, the core of the Arab-Israeli conflict, is imperative for the attainment of peace and stability in the Middle East," said Shaanika.

He voiced Namibia's support for the "restart" of the stalled Middle East peace process, which came to a halt due to the ongoing Israeli settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territory.
