Japanese Meet to Express Support for Korea's Reunification

Pyongyang, December 3 (KCNA) -- The 29th national meeting of the movement for supporting Korea's reunification was held in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, on Nov. 26.

Attending it were Chairman Fumihiro Himori and members of the Japan Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea, members of the executive committee of the national meeting and representatives of organizations for solidarity with the DPRK from across Japan.

Present on invitation were Nam Sung U, vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), and other officials of Chongryon.

At the meeting personages of different circles made speeches before a congratulatory message from the Korean Society for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries was read out.

Hirogazu Kitagawa, representative member of the Japan Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea, made a report.

A lecture on the subject of "Path to denuclearization and peace in Northeast Asia" was given.

Then the meeting adopted a written request, which urged the Japanese government to stop the discriminative and national chauvinist encroachment upon the human rights of Korean residents, immediately lift the sanctions against the DPRK and opt for the talks for normalizing diplomatic relations based on the settlement of the past and the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration.
