Russia Sees No Reasons for NATO Involvement in Arctic Affairs

Moscow, December 1 (KCNA) -- There is no reason for NATO to become involved in any potential conflicts in the Arctic, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said to reporters Tuesday.

Lavrov reiterated that Russia also saw no reason to expect conflicts in the Arctic region.

"We see no idea of military actions in the Arctic. There is a consensus among the Arctic Council members that all problems which might arise in the region must be settled within the framework of the council and on the base of the UN conventions," he said.
