Samil Wolgan, Revolutionary Publication

Pyongyang, November 30 (KCNA) -- December 1 marks the 75th anniversary of Samil Wolgan, a revolutionary publication.

The magazine was the organ of the Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland (ARF), the first organization of the anti-Japanese national united front in Korea.

President Kim Il Sung had attached great importance to press activities since he started the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle.

He was of the view that there was probably no other form of publicity and agitation more powerful than publications in their ability to quickly disseminate the same ideology and fight slogans among the masses at the same time, rally them and give them organizational and ideological training.

After founding ARF, the President planned to expand it extensively at home and abroad.

But the activities for its expansion were very difficult for the limited number of operatives.

The President found out a solution to the shortage of operatives in distribution of a revolutionary publication.

He was sure that if a paper or magazine loved by the masses was published skillfully and distributed here and there, each issue could take the place of an operative.

When a secret camp was built in Mt. Paektu and a printing shop set up there, he launched the magazine immediately.

Though he was under the pressure of battles, he contributed articles to the magazine.

Since the inauguration of the magazine, the activities for expanding ARF had made a rapid progress.

Samil Wolgan played a big role in bringing about a great upsurge in the overall Korean revolution based on the anti-Japanese armed struggle.
