Military, Political Training in Matanggou Camp

Pyongyang, November 30 (KCNA) -- The military and political training of the main unit of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army (KPRA) held in the Matanggou Camp from late in November 1937 till March 1938 under the guidance of President Kim Il Sung served as an occasion of invigorating the anti-Japanese armed struggle.

Some of KPRA members, deceived by the propaganda of the Japanese imperialists, began losing confidence in the victory of revolution. Moreover, the army was rapidly expanded with many recruits.

In the summer of Juche 26 (1937), the President dispatched an advance group to Matanggou in Mengjiang County to build a secret camp and make preparations for the training.

After moving the unit to the camp, he convened a meeting to indicate the aim and tasks of the training, nominate lecturers and organize training groups.

"The Tasks of Korean Communists", "The Ten-point Programme of the Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland", "Guerrillas Manual" and other famous works written by the President were taken as teaching materials in the training.

The military training mainly included shooting practice.

He personally gave lectures for the trainees.

Later, the unit, which prepared itself politically and militarily through the training, successfully wound up the Arduous March, operation in Musan area and large-unit circling operation, moving up the day of the liberation of the country from the Japanese colonial rule.
