Meeting in Tokyo Call for Normalizing DPRK-Japan Ties

Pyongyang, November 29 (KCNA) -- A general meeting and lecture of the Liaison Council for Demanding Denuclearization and Peace in Northeast Asia and Normalization of the Relations between Japan and the DPRK took place in Tokyo on Nov. 21.

Associate Prof. of Rikkyo University Koichi Ishizaka, co-representative and secretary general of the liaison council, in a report at the event reviewed the past one year's activities of the liaison council. He denounced the Japanese government for extending the term of sanctions against the DPRK as well as watching, suppressing and discriminating Koreans in Japan.

He demanded the Japanese authorities make apology and reparation for the crimes Japan committed during its colonial rule over Korea.

He underlined the need to conduct more dynamic movement to end discrimination against Korean schools that has become undisguised across Japan.

Honorary Prof. of Hitotsubashi University Hiroshi Tanaka and Honorary Prof. of Tokyo University Haruki Wada who are advisors to the liaison council delivered lectures on the system of aiding Korean schools and the 10th anniversary of the adoption of the Japan-DPRK Pyongyang Declaration.

An appeal was adopted at the event. It demanded the Japanese authorities resume the talks for normalizing Japan-DPRK diplomatic relations at an early date and stressed the need to build up public opinion to facilitate the normalization of the bilateral diplomatic relations on the 10th anniversary of the Japan-DPRK Pyongyang Declaration.

The appeal urged the Japanese authorities to apply the system of aiding Korean schools as soon as possible.
