Congolese President Meets DPRK Ambassador

Pyongyang, November 26 (KCNA) -- Congolese President Denis Sassou-Nguesso hoped that the friendly and cooperative relations between Congo and the DPRK would grow stronger in various fields. He said this when he received credentials from Ri Myong Chol, DPRK ambassador to his country, on Nov. 17.

The president said he was pleased to see the long-standing friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries keep developing on good terms despite the change of the world situation.

He went on:

I remember and recollect with deep emotion my twice visits to the DPRK where I was received by President Kim Il Sung.

I sincerely congratulate the Korean people upon many achievements in the drive to build a thriving nation and grandly commemorate the centenary of birth of Kim Il Sung under the outstanding leadership of General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

The Congolese government and people will always support and encourage the Korean people in their efforts to defend the sovereignty and peace of the country and reunify it.
