"Ulsa Five-Point Treaty" Declared Null in S. Korea

Pyongyang, November 20 (KCNA) -- The preparatory committee of the Conference of the National Independent History held a press interview outside the Japanese embassy in Seoul on November 17, 106 years since the "Ulsa Five-Point Treaty" was fabricated by the Japanese imperialists. The committee groups more than 80 organizations in south Korea.

The speakers declared the "Ulsa Five-Point Treaty" null and void, saying the Japanese imperialists stole the state seal of Korea and fabricated the treaty at the point of bayonet.

They denounced the Japanese imperialists for putting the whole of the Korean Peninsula under their occupation and destroying or plundering valuable legacies and relics of the Korean nation following the fabrication of the Treaty.

Japan should no longer try to push its crimes under carpet but make apology and reparation before the Korean nation for all its crimes including sexual slavery, they urged.

Opened to the public at the interview was a secret letter of the then Korean King Kojong, a proof of the invalidity of the Treaty.
