GI's Arson Failed in S. Korea

Pyongyang, November 19 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for Democracy, People's Life, Peaceful Reunification and Sovereignty of south Korea released a statement on November 17 to condemn the arson by a GI present in south Korea.

On Nov. 15 a U.S. service member committed arson after getting heavily drunk at a bar in Rithaewon-dong, Ryongsan District, Seoul.

Recalling this fact, the statement said:

Whenever immoral crimes were committed by GIs, the commander of the U.S. forces present in south Korea had promised intensified patrol, night curfew and the like. But such gesture is only a trick to calm down the growing public criticism.

The U.S. troops have committed all sorts of evil crimes under the shelter of the unequal south Korea-U.S. "Status of Forces Agreement", the statement charged.

The chief executive of the U.S. should promptly apologize on his knees for the sexual assault cases and incendiary case recently committed one after another by GIs, it held.

The statement urged a severe punishment of the GI arsonist.
