Pyongyang, November 19 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Saturday dedicates a bylined article to the 10th anniversary of the publication of leader Kim Jong Il's work "Journalists and Other Media Persons Are Ideological Standard-bearers Reliably Defending Our Ideology, System and Cause".

The work, published on Nov. 18, Juche 90 (2001), deals with the tasks and ways for the journalists and other media persons to uphold the Party's idea and cause. They include the matters of bringing about radical changes in ideological viewpoint, way of activity and work style as required by the new century and raising the slogan of ability cultivation-first.

The journalists and other media persons are standing in the van of the ideological front that stirs up the zeal of the army and people in the efforts to open the gate to prosperity without fail in 2012 marking the centenary of birth of President Kim Il Sung, and encourages them to work miracles and innovations at the construction and production sites for great surge across the country, the article says, and goes on:

After the historic Conference of the Workers' Party of Korea the media persons of Songun Korea have discharged their mission as competent educator, bold agitator and faithful mouthpiece in carrying out the great cause of the WPK, rallied closer around the headquarters of the revolution.

The journalists and other media persons of the DPRK are the ideological standard-bearers firmly strengthening the politico-ideological position of socialism.

Under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il they have conducted the revolutionary and militant media activities to give full play to the mental power of all the servicepersons and people in accelerating the advance for great surge.

They are mouthpiece and defender of justice resolutely smashing the imperialists' aggression moves and reactionary ideological offensive.

The revolutionary spirit and fighting efficiency of the WPK's media, clear-cut and strong in the class position and the politico-ideological stand, has been recognized by the world public.

The Juche-based media plays a role of powerful cannon in the struggle to reliably defend the ideology, system and cause of the DPRK. Steadfast is the will of our media persons to disseminate leader Kim Jong Il's philosophy on the red flag in the whole society and consolidate Korean-style socialism as the fortress of ideology and faith no matter which way the wind may blow.
