Japan's Sinister Intention to Usurp Name of UN Disclosed

Pyongyang, November 17 (KCNA) -- Japan has recently started examination into a bill on amending the "Law on Cooperation for UN Peace-keeping Activities". The essence of it is to lower the standard of use of weapons by the Japan "Self-Defense Forces" participating in the UN peace-keeping operations.

Lurking behind this move is a sinister intention of the Japanese reactionaries, Rodong Sinmun Thursday says in a bylined commentary, adding:

The present Constitution of Japan banning war disallows the SDF to use weapons in international peace-keeping activities.

This is not the first time for Japan to amend the said law.

Towards the beginning of the new century, Japan revised the law to allow the SDF's participation in any overseas military operation.

Since then the SDF has openly taken part in military activities overseas without restrictions, which confined the SDF's activities to such non-combat duties as relief of refugees, medical service and supply service. Anyhow, the SDF is still prohibited from carrying or using heavy weapons. The current amendment is aimed to remove this hindrance.

The Japanese militarists' scheme for overseas aggression has entered a practical phase.

It is the strategic intention of the Japanese reactionaries to realize their old dream of "Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere" with mobilization of the SDF.

No matter how desperately Japan tries to wear the helmet of the UN peace-keeping force, it can never cover up its true colors as an aggressor getting heated with ambition for overseas military expansion.
