Mural Tomb Dating Back to Koguryo Period

Pyongyang, November 16 (KCNA) -- A mural tomb, believed to be built in the period of Koguryo Kingdom (277 B.C.- 668 A.D.), is located in Susan-ri, Kangso District, Nampho City in Korea.

The tomb consists of a corridor and chamber.

The corridor, 4.5 meters long, 1.6 meters wide and 1.8 meters high, is roofed with a large plate stone. The square chamber is 4.1 meters high.

The tomb's walls are decorated with paintings.

Noticeable in the decorations is a painting on the west wall portraying acrobatic feats. The painting is indicative of the development of acrobatics in the kingdom and its people's optimistic life.

The colors of the beautiful paintings remain vivid.

The tomb, one of the historical relics representing the Eastern culture at that time, reflects the advanced culture of the Korean people in the middle ages.
