Unity of Democratic Forces for Reform of S. Korea Is Key to Victory

Pyongyang, November 16 (KCNA) -- Only when the democratic forces for reform in south Korea wage a struggle in close unity, can they overcome the desperate challenges of the conservative forces and achieve the final victory.

Rodong Sinmun Wednesday says this in a bylined article.

New politics and life are the demand of the popular masses who aspire after new things against the old conservative rule. The struggle of the south Korean people, therefore, is sure to triumph, it noted.

The present "government" in south Korea has pursued the policy of depending on foreign forces and the fascist dictatorial rule. As a result, the dignity and sovereignty of the people have been mercilessly violated and democracy and human rights been abused in the south Korean society, it said.

It continued:

The south Korean ruling forces took power by deceiving the people with such false commitment as "economic recovery". They, however, failed to guarantee the majority of the popular masses the rights but forced them into poverty while defending the interests of a few privileged classes.

It admits of no argument what will be the result of the maneuvers of the ruling forces who keep to the reactionary conservatism while quenching the people's desire for new politics and life.

No one can help those old conservative forces from being ousted from the stage of history by the united struggle of the people aspiring after independence.

The results of the recent election for Seoul mayor showed that the broad democratic forces for reform in south Korea can surely win victory if they wage a struggle in unity no matter how desperately the conservative group may resort to tricky and high-handed practices and fascist oppression.
