Chongryu Pavilion in Moran Hill

Pyongyang, November 11 (KCNA) -- Chongryu Pavilion stands on Chongryu cliff in Moran Hill in the capital city of Pyongyang.

The colorfully painted pavilion, indicative of the wisdom and talents of the Korean nation, is the tower of Jonghae Gate built in the period of Koguryo kingdom (277 B.C.-668 A.D.)

It was rebuilt in 1716.

The crane-shaped roof propped up by ten pillars is in harmony with the scenery of the cliff.

The pavilion was heavily destroyed by the U.S. bombing in the Fatherland Liberation War (June 1950-July 1953), but was restored to the original state thanks to the policy of the Workers' Party of Korea for preserving national cultural heritages.
