KCNA Slams Japan's Territorial Ambition for Tok Islets

Pyongyang, November 11 (KCNA) -- The Tokyo Metropolitan Teachers' Union in handbook for teachers clarified "there is no historical ground to call Tok Islets part of Japan's territory." Japanese Foreign Minister Kenba grumbled this is "incompatible with Japan's stand."

It was a positive development from every aspect for teachers to express their intention to teach the younger generation historical truth.

The Japanese foreign minister, however, openly voiced displeasure with it, an indication of the territorial ambition haunting the Japanese politicians.

What the diplomatic boss of a country said is not a matter confined to his understanding of history but reflects the country's foreign and domestic policies. Kenba's remarks, therefore, should not be overlooked.

The Japanese reactionaries have become all the more undisguised in their attempt to seize Tok Islets, part of the inviolable territory of Korea.

This year the Japan Defence Ministry openly marked Tok Islets "Takeshima" on maps dealing with Japan's territory over which its sovereignty is exercised. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology decided to reflect Japan's claim to Tok Islets in textbooks of all social subjects to be used at primary schools from next year. It has already got similar textbooks for middle schools passed at the screening. The National Land and Geography Agency of Japan has produced and distributed the maps of Tok Islets marked as "part of Japan's territory".

The Japanese ultra right-wing forces are working hard to convince the Japanese that Tok Islets belong to Japan.

They are openly conducting agitation while pushing forward the proposal for observing "Day of Takeshima" with fanfare in downtown Tokyo from next year. This annual event had so far been held in Shimane Prefecture since 2005.

This is prompted by their intention to expand the "Tok Islets issue" nationwide from Shimane prefecture.

Tok Islets are part of the inseparable territory of Korea in the light of historical facts and geographical and legal grounds. This admits of no argument.

Japan inflicted whole gamut of disaster and misfortune on the Korean nation for decades after putting Korea under its control. Far from making reparation for them, the Japanese militarists assert that Tok Islets are part of their territory. It is the stand of the army and people of the DPRK that their territorial ambition should never be tolerated.

Japan should stop coveting other's territory.

It would be beneficial for Japan to drop its territorial ambition, though belatedly.
