Nepal's TV Calls for Conclusion of Peace Treaty in Korea

Pyongyang, November 11 (KCNA) -- Sakirmata TV Broadcasting Service of Nepal aired a special program on November 2 and 3 under the title "Nuclear issue on the Korean peninsula and the DPRK's efforts for its reunification."

It said:

There took place in 2007 a summit meeting of Kim Jong Il, the supreme leader of the DPRK, and Roh Moon Hyun, former president of south Korea, which culminated in the adoption of the historic October 4 Declaration.

It calls for improving the relations between the north and south and developing exchange and cooperation between them.

But the United States and south Korean authorities have staged ceaseless military exercises on the Korean peninsula, straining the inter-Korean relations.

The broadcasting service recalled that the DPRK has bolstered nuclear deterrent for self-defense to cope with the U.S. undisguised nuclear threat and stepped-up hostile policy.

The relations between the DPRK and the U.S. and between the north and the south of Korea have not yet been improved as the Korean Armistice Agreement signed in 1953 has not been replaced by a peace treaty, the broadcasting service said.
