Beijing, November 8 (KCNA) -- The 80th anniversary of the Xinhua News Agency was marked in China.

A celebration meeting took place at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing with the attendance of senior party and state officials on November 7.

Li Changchun, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the C.C., Communist Party of China, said at the meeting that for 80 years since its birth the Xinhua News Agency has given wide publicity to the party's theory, line and policy, correctly informed of new circumstances at home and abroad in time and widely aired voice of China over the world under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee.

He stressed the need for the news agency to do its work under meticulous plan and play the role of model in launching an intensive drive to study and disseminate and implement the spirit of the 6th plenary meeting of the 17th CPC Central Committee in the press front, cherishing its high sense of political responsibility and historical mission.
