Scientific Achievements in Food, Light Industries

Pyongyang, November 7 (KCNA) -- Scientific achievements have been made by the Branch Academy of the Light Industrial Science under the State Academy of Sciences.

The Food Research Institute has invented a new method of pickling vegetables.

The Fermentation Research Institute has rendered technological assistance to the Pyongyang Stevia Processing Factory for its updating and production of sweetening.

The sweetening developed by the institute is several hundred times higher than sugar in the saccharine amount, with no adverse effect on health.

The institute also succeeded in making vinegar with fruits.

The Aromatic and Cosmetic Engineering Research Institute has developed new kinds of functional cosmetics with bean protein.

The Textile Research Institute is working on increasing the variety of tetron staple fiber and improving the quality of vinalon fiber.
