Pyongyang, November 5 (KCNA) -- Yangsando is one of the typical folk songs of the northwestern provinces of Korea.

The areas include North and South Phyongan, Jagang and North and South Hwanghae provinces.

Yangsando means a road to Yangdok and Maengsan.

The folk song sings of the picturesque scenes of Yangdok, Maengsan and scenic spots in Pyongyang -- Moran Hill, Pubyok Pavilion and Taedong Gate -- seen along the Taedong River.

It is characterized by a gentle, beautiful and bright melody and a peculiar and cheerful rhythm.

Yangsando enjoys a great popularity among the Korean people.
