Guidelines for Juche-oriented Cinematic Art

Pyongyang, November 2 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung published a famous work "On Some Problems Arising in the Creation of Revolutionary Films" in November Juche 57 (1968.)

In the work, he said what is important for cinematic art in discharging its mission and duty is to create characters encouraging the popular masses in their struggle for independence.

He called for producing many films truthfully portraying people of all walks of life becoming revolutionaries.

The work clarifies the nature of Juche-based cinematic art and ways for its development.

Since the work was published, a signal turn has been made in developing film art in the country.

Masterpieces, including "The Sea of Blood" and "The Fate of a Self-defense Corps Man", were adapted to films under the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Many feature films encourage people to accelerate socialist construction, carrying forward the tradition of struggle provided by the anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters.

Typical of them are "Five Guerrilla Brothers", "The Flourishing Village", "A Worker's Family" and "Rolling Workers."
