aekwon-Do Hall, Centre of National Martial Art

Pyongyang, November 1 (KCNA) -- In the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, a birthplace of Taekwon-Do, there is the Taekwon-Do Hall, a centre of the Korean nation's martial art.

The hall was built in a peculiar way national in form and socialist in content in Chongchun Street in Pyongyang.

President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il took a measure to build the hall in order to further develop the national martial art.

Inaugurated in September Juche 81 (1992), the hall has a floor space of more than 70,000 square meters. It has a main building and accessory buildings.

Kim Jong Il's calligraphic letters "Taekwon-Do Hall" are seen on the front wall of the main building.

The hall houses a 2,400-seat gymnasium, training rooms, swimming pool, bathhouses and other welfare service facilities.

Many international and domestic tournaments, including the World Taekwon-Do Championship, have been held at the hall.
