Chinese Newspaper on Performance of DPRK Opera Troupe

Pyongyang, November 1 (KCNA) -- The Phibada Opera Troupe of the DPRK gave its first performance of opera "Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai" in China.

In this regard China's Jilin Sinmun (Korean version) on Oct. 27 carried an article titled "It was a wonderful performance in which the cultures of China and the DPRK fuse into one".

The performance left a deep impression on the Chinese audience, the newspaper said, adding:

The opera "Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai" is a Korean version of a Chinese classic work adapted by the Phibada Opera Troupe last year marking the 60th anniversary of the entry of the Chinese People's Volunteers into the Korean front.

Its premiere in China was more significant as it took place on Oct. 25, the anniversary of the CPV's entry into the Korean front.

The performance fascinated more than 3,000 audience packed to the full for emotional songs and acting, sweet pangchang under the stage and beautiful Korean dance.

Not a few spectators were moved to tears, watching the last part of the performance, in particular, in which Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai turn into butterflies.

Officials and popular masses of different strata in Jilin Province enjoyed the performance, the newspaper said, and went on:

Last year the Phibada Opera Troupe made tour performances of opera "A Dream of Red Mansions" in 10 odd cities in China, including Changchun, creating a hot air of viewing Korean opera in China.

The troupe is one of the art organizations representing the highest level of Korean art.

A winner of Order of Kim Il Sung, the troupe has famous creators and artistes, including People's Artistes and Merited Artistes loved by the Korean people.

The newspaper also carried photos showing performance scenes.
