New Postage Stamps Issued

Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- The State Stamp Bureau of the DPRK published a stamp to mark the 150th anniversary of the Taedongyo Map.

The stamp contains pictures of the map and geographer Kim Jong Ho (early 19th century-1864).

Kim completed the map in 1861 after 27 years of tour of all parts of the country.

The map was revised and reprinted in 1864.

The map shows mountains, rivers, islands, ports, administrative districts, populated areas, traffic networks, historical relics and other things.

The bureau also published four kinds of individual stamps showing historical figures of Korea.

They are Pak Yon (1378-1458), one of the three famous Korean musicians in the middle ages, a famous lady painter Sinsa Im Dang (1504-1551), a realist Jong Yak Yong (1762-1836) and a famous anti-Japanese volunteer Ryu Rin Sok (1842-1915).
