Inter-Korean Buddhist Joint Mass Held

Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- A north-south Buddhist joint mass praying for Korea's reunification and having Nirvana service was held at Ryongthong Temple in Kaesong of the DPRK on Monday to mark the 6th anniversary of the restoration of the temple.

Present there from the north side were officer bearers of the Central Committee of the Buddhist Federation of Korea and priests and Buddhists of the temple and from the south side priests and Buddhists of Chonthae Order.

A Buddhist ritual took place at the mass to be followed by speeches.

The speakers said the holding of the joint mass is a manifestation of the unanimous will of the Buddhists in the north and the south to thoroughly implement the historic June 15 joint declaration and October 4 declaration in Dharma-minded concord and indomitable spirit and boost solidarity and cooperation with each other to achieve peace on the Korean Peninsula and national reunification.

A joint prayer of inter-Korean Buddhists for national reunification was read out.

It clarified the firm resolution of the Buddhists in the north and the south to pave the way for visiting Ryongthong Temple and actively turn out in practical actions to improve the inter-Korean relations and achieve reunification, peace and prosperity of the country.
