According to its epitaph, the temple was built by Hyon Uk (786-868) and rebuilt in 1368.

The main building of the temple is Pogwang Shrine. The colorfully painted building is decorated with dragon, phoenix and other sculptures. It serves as a valuable thing in studying the architecture of Koryo kingdom (early 10th century-late 14th century).

Chongphung and Hyangro pavilions are also included in the temple.

Hanging on the front wall of Chongphung Pavilion is a wood-made fish 2.5 meters long and 100 kilograms weigh.
