Moscow, October 28 (KCNA) -- The Russian Foreign Ministry in a statement on Thursday accused the United States of imposing embargo on Cuba.

The majority of the UN member states denounce the U.S. embargo on Cuba, the statement said, referring to a resolution adopted at the 66th UN General Assembly demanding the withdrawal of the economic, commercial and financial blockade on Cuba.

Russia supports the resolution on the basis of its principled stand and in obedience to the main article of the UN Charter which calls for disallowing any discriminative measure and interference in internal affairs, it said.

The statement strongly urged the U.S. to lift its anti-Cuba embargo.
