Pyongyang, October 29 (KCNA) -- U.S. and UK newspapers reported that the results of Seoul mayoral election dealt a heavy blow at the "Grand National Party", according to the south Korean CBS on Thursday.

The American paper Wall Street Journal said independent candidate Pak Won Sun, a progressive civil campaigner, won in the Seoul mayoral election and this gave a shock to the ruling GNP.

The British paper Financial Times said the election of the independent candidate to the mayoral post by people from different social standings in Seoul dealt a heavy strike at the south Korean "president".
