South Hamgyong Province Witnesses Economic Upsurge

Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- A fresh economic upsurge has been registered in South Hamgyong Province, the DPRK.

The February 8 Vinalon Complex has resumed operation after years of stagnation and taken on a new look as a gigantic vinalon fiber producer.

The complex updated the vertical spinning and fiber shops to turn out high-quality vinalon fiber.

The Hungnam Fertilizer Complex completed the first-stage gasification project for producing fertilizers with raw materials and fuel available in the country and successfully made its trial operation.

The Ryongsong Machine Complex has manufactured modern geothermal equipment.

The Taehung Youth Hero Mine has reached a record high in ore production by employing a new open cast mining method.

The mine has boosted the production of magnesite ores 2.2 times, magnesia clinker and high-quality magnesia clinker 2.5 times respectively and light burning magnesia 35 times, compared with the year Juche 91 (2002).

It has also started producing magnesia clinker and light burning magnesia without use of cokes.

The upsurge has also been reported from the Ryongyang Mine and the construction of the Tanchon Port.

General Secretary Kim Jong Il, in the name of the Central Committee and the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea, invited officials, innovators, scientists and technicians of the province to the capital city of Pyongyang in praise of their feats performed in putting their industrial establishments on a modern and scientific basis.
