DPRK Rich in Vermiculite Resources

Pyongyang, October 24 (KCNA) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea is abundant in vermiculite resources.

The country has deposits of several hundred million tons of vermiculite, as well as favorable mining conditions.

The grade of vermiculite in the country is as high as 70-90 percent, free from asbestos.

It is less than 7 percent in content of iron oxide and more than 21 percent in content of magnesium.

The country has paid deep attention to making a rational use of vermiculite resources.

There is an expanded vermiculite producer in Sunchon City, South Phyongan Province.

Expanded vermiculite is widely used as sound arresting, moisture preventing and lagging materials for dwelling houses and public buildings.
